Laura Ricks
Ephemeral Skies
Mary Ellen Lovell Gallery
May 6 – 27, 2022
Laura Ricks‘ felted pieces depict the ever-changing and often overlooked beauty in the skies above. Her painterly scenes explore the mood and manner of clouds, which are quite fickle and can quickly go from calm to dark, stormy to serene, or black to vibrant in a matter or moments.
Laura Ricks is an artist from Lafayette, Indiana. The main body of her work and true creative passion lies in wool and wet felting. She loves to add needle felted and sewn details to many of her pieces, which gives them an extra level of definition, depth and drama. She loves creating natural scenes and landscapes inspired by her rural Indiana surroundings and occasionally by her travels. She is a co-owner of Artists’ Own Cooperative Artist Gallery and has begun teaching her craft in online tutorials available at feltingtutorials.com.
