I like to let my work take me where it wants to go. It is a mysterious, wonderful process of discovering how my subconscious makes a connection with something that is familiar in something that is not.

I start with an idea and/or an image, often working with digital images in paint.net to get a general composition. I then sketch out my idea on canvas and begin painting. At that point the process involves a lot of focusing and un-focusing as I paint then responding to what I see- pushing some things forward and others back until I’m satisfied.

I started making art in reform school in western Massachusetts in the mid-1980’s
