My primary medium involves oils on canvas with a focus on expression and impressions through color, texture, and light. My love of art began before I can properly remember. Art classes were always the highlight of school from kindergarten through high school and I found myself winning art competitions in my school corporation and at the local county fair throughout my youth. The persona of an artist became ingrained in my identity while attending McCutcheon High School as I progressed through nearly every art class available in the curriculum and was selected to take independent study under the guidance of my art teachers as a junior and senior. While at Purdue University, I was enrolled as an Art & Design major for four very enjoyable and educational semesters before life threw me a curve-ball and I dropped out of school briefly. During my time as an A&D major, I also took a summer oil- painting class, under scholarship, at the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette under John Crosby. After twenty-years of mostly putting my artistic endeavors aside to focus on supporting a family, I found a flurry of inspiration and began rebuilding skills laid dormant, found surprising success through the Ohio Arts League’s juried shows, and rediscovered the joys of displaying and discussing art with my wife as we attended community markets and pop-up events in the Westerville area with our artistic projects displayed for the public.
