After School Arts Program


The After School Arts Program (ASAP) offers free art classes to students in grades K-12. Covering the full spectrum of creative disciplines ASAP aims to make a meaningful difference in the lives of youth in our community, reinforce academics, improve self-esteem, and inspire creativity. All ASAP classes are FREE!


Spring 2026 Class List

Beginning Ukulele (Grades 3-12)
Instructor: Cameron Maynard
Students will learn how to hold and tune the ukulele. Students will learn how to play multiple full chords and songs. They will perform said songs in front of a live audience at the showcase at TAF. Students may use their own personal instrument or borrow one from TAF.

Through the Artists' Eyes (Grades 5-8)

Students study a new artist each week learning not only their techniques, but how their life, culture, and emotions shaped their work. Then, they reinterpret that style through their own lived experiences.
 By the end of the course, students will have a collection of artworks that represent their inner world through the eyes of art history’s greats.

Learn portraiture composition and a quick tutorial in color theory. Applying the fundamentals in shadow and light as well as valuable lessons in color mixing, and facial feature rendering, my class will leave with a classic trained ability to complete a stunning, accurate, self, or otherwise portrait!

The class will focus on the different ways wool fiber can be used to create objects and art. Each week will include an introduction and activity using wool fiber. Topics included - How to use a drop spindle to make yarn, wet felting, needle felting to make objects with and without an armature, and needle felting wall art.
