Christina Slayton’s artistic journey delves into the interplay of light and atmosphere, creating landscapes and seascapes that hum with emotion. Known for her work in pastel on paper and oil on canvas or prepared board, her work stands out for its depiction of mood, deft handling of various mediums, and thoughtful exploration of the natural world.
Slayton honed her artistic skills at the Columbus College of Art and Design, Columbus, Ohio (1994–97), the Richard Halstead School of Portrait and Figure Painting, Chicago, Illinois (1998), and the Schuler School of Art, Baltimore, Maryland (2003–05).
Slayton has exhibited her works at venues such as the Minnetrista 34th Annual Juried Art Show in Muncie, Indiana (2024), Artlink’s “Nocturne” Juried Art Exhibition in Fort Wayne, IN (2022), and the Swope Art Museum 78th Wabash Valley Exhibition in Terra Haute, IN (2022), among others. Her art has been collected by various national collectors, and she has actively participated in esteemed events like the Annapolis Maritime Museum 6th Annual Juried Art Show (2017), the Shades of Pastel National Show in Washington DC (2009) and the NOAPS Best of America Show in St. Louis, Missouri (2004).
Born in 1942 in Mount Vernon, Washington, USA, Slayton currently resides in Russiaville, Indiana.
