“Syzygy”
Syzygy, is set to inspire a reawakening-to reconnect people with their inner instincts and the natural world through the power of art. Using acrylic and oil paintings that merge realism with imaginative, stylistic elements, Oscar aims to create a world where familiar subjects, predators, prey, and the duality of yin and yang, are transformed into symbols of universal desire and interconnectedness. This exhibition celebrates the shared love of animals and the primal instincts that bind us all. “My goal is to encourage viewers to step away from the distractions of technology, embrace their instincts, and rediscover the beauty of the natural world.”
Oscar Toloza (b. 1992, Reseda, CA) is a Salvadoran-American painter based in Indianapolis. Raised in Logansport, IN, his early passion for video games, music, and self-taught artistry fueled a creative drive that eventually led him to fully commit to visual art in 2019. Working across acrylics, oils, graphite, spray paint, and tattooing, his work explores perseverance, animal instincts, and humanity’s bond with nature, blending surreal dreamscapes with vivid colors. Inspired by Eastern art and pre-Hispanic traditions, Oscar seeks to bridge past and present, creating a space for those caught between cultures. He has live-painted at festivals like WAKAAN, created murals, and is currently preparing for two solo exhibitions in 2025 while apprenticing with LAMP (Latino Artist Mentorship Program).
