HB Jinx is an artist who has embraced life’s complexities and chaos, finding joy and meaning in the present moment. Their creative journey began with an early fascination for mastering various tools and techniques, which later evolved into using art as a coping mechanism in stressful environments. During their college years, HB Jinx’s work became more intellectual, yet this shift led to a period of being stuck in an unwelcoming headspace. This struggle robbed them of the joy of creation until a transformative inner journey helped them break free from negative thought patterns. Through self-discovery and building a supportive community, HB Jinx found their authentic self and rekindled their passion for creating art. They now view their work as a means to craft joyous spaces for others, sharing the beauty and meaning they find in each moment. HB Jinx’s current work reflects this renewed perspective, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the present and find their own reasons for joy. They are always open to connecting with their audience, encouraging conversations and feedback through Instagram. With a fresh outlook and a commitment to authenticity, HB Jinx continues to create art that resonates deeply with those who experience it, embarking on a new path of creative exploration and communal joy.
Level Up With Me: HB Jinx feat. Towwby
Welcome, intrepid explorer, to “Level Up with Me,” a curious tale of creativity, transformation, and the serendipitous dance of objects that have found their way into my life. Imagine, if you will, a realm where the mundane becomes extraordinary, where every discarded item harbors a story as rich and ancient as the land it hails from. In this land of the Midwest, anything you might need—be it a peculiar piece of furniture, a whimsical decoration, or a canvas aching to tell a new tale—can be found secondhand, thanks to the resourceful and ever-generous folk who inhabit these parts.
There’s something quintessentially Hoosier about uncovering the hidden magic in secondhand treasures. Wherever my adventures have taken me in this state, I’ve always encountered someone eager to share a bit of their own history for the benefit of another. It’s a kindness and hospitality that feels like a warm, familiar hearth, reminding me of my own roots. For the longest time, I hesitated to claim my Midwestern identity, but as I’ve grown and, well, leveled up, I’ve come to embrace it. My journey and the myriad opportunities I’ve encountered here have shaped who I am today, turning old furniture and fine art supplies into companions on this fantastical voyage.
Each canvas you see here was plucked from the intriguing world of garage sales and thrift stores like Goodwill, each bearing its own narrative. Take, for instance, the painting titled “Veni. Vedi. Descessi.”—a tapestry of transformation and renewal. The flowers once hidden beneath a former art project now bloom anew under my brush. Initially, I imagined a collection where every piece gleamed with perfection, like a polished artifact that gets so many views on TikTok. But I’ve come to cherish these objects in their current, slightly unruly states, embracing their unfinished forms as part of the ongoing adventure. Fear not, dear visitor, for they will reach their final forms post-show, and I invite you to keep a watchful eye on my creative endeavors. You see, I’m a painter, not a carpenter, and it shows. That’s the nice thing about leveling up. It doesn’t mean every attribute grows. We’re only human. I will keep learning.
Future installations promise even more enchantment, and any support—be it through the alchemical art of liking, sharing, or even the arcane practice of monetary donations via your preferred apps—will be met with heartfelt gratitude. I am also open to your suggestions and commission requests, especially if you have items, particularly canvases, that need a new lease on life. Bonus points offered to anything half finished. So, enjoy the show, dear traveler, and thank you for joining me on this artistic quest.
