a.lure
Tracy Smoll lives in West Lafayette and has an MFA in Ceramics from Purdue University. She is currently teaching Painting, Ceramics, and A.P. Art History at West Lafayette High School. Much of her work is based on the current climate crisis particularly at this point in history referred to as the Anthropocene. It is the first geological age in which humans are dominant forces on the climate and environment. Most recently, Smoll’s work was in the Rusty and Patty Rueff Gallery at Purdue University in her show titled, Anemoia. Additionally, her work was selected for Manifest Gallery’s show in Cincinnati, “Master Pieces”. She has also exhibited at TAF, Artist’s Own, and Athens Art Gallery.
This show consists of works that explore the idea of connection. The title a.lure refers to the intention that compels our actions. What we are allured to informs what we lure to us. In the context of nature and an ever-changing climate reality, I have read, journaled, and created work about these underlying intentions.
