The Arts Federation (TAF) is excited to announce a public dedication and meet the artist event for a new mural in the Town of Rossville. The event has been scheduled for 3:45 pm on Thursday, October 27, at 17 N Plank Street in Rossville, Indiana.
The mural is being painted by New York artist Justin Suarez (Aerosol Kingdom). He has been working with students from Rossville Junior/Senior High School’s Art Club for the last several months. Students and art teacher Natalie Thomas identified the imagery for the mural, and building owner Brad Cohen selected the Rossville theme. The iconic Rossville hornets are among the familiar imagery that was identified for inclusion in the mural.
New York artist Justin Suarez has painted murals across the US, and his work has been exhibited around the world. Suarez brings the intensity of a raptor to his artistic endeavors He is also a valued handler of birds of prey at an animal sanctuary outside Rochester, New York. Suarez completed two other murals in the area earlier this summer – an owl can be found at Second Flight Books (2122 Scott Street) and a flight of songbirds can be seen at the corner of 9th and Kossuth Streets in Lafayette.
This project wraps up the 2022 mural season for TAF and its Wabash Walls mural art program.
In addition to support from community members, this project was created with funding from Brad Cohen, Arni’s Pizza, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
